Kalima's AI tools turn a finished transcript into something you can act on without re-reading it. From the Studio you can generate a structured summary, ask questions about a session, clean up mistakes, get an automatic title, and listen to any line read aloud. Everything is grounded in the words that were actually spoken.

How Kalima's AI works
The AI features share a few principles that are worth knowing up front. They keep results trustworthy, fast, and predictable.
Grounded in your transcript
Summaries and chat answers are built only from the words in your session. The AI is instructed to stay faithful to the transcript and never invent decisions, owners, dates, numbers, names, or quotes. If you ask the chat about something that isn't in the recording, it will tell you it doesn't know rather than guess. This means the quality of any AI result depends on how clearly things were said. Clean audio and accurate transcripts produce better summaries.
The AI summary adapts to your content. A meeting gets a briefing that emphasizes decisions and action items, while a lecture, podcast, or solo recording emphasizes ideas and key takeaways instead of forcing in decisions that were never made.
Written in your language
Summaries, chat answers, automatic titles, and AutoCorrect+ notes are all written in your account's display language, even when the conversation itself happened in another language. So you can transcribe a meeting in German and read its summary in English, or vice versa. To change the language of your AI output, change your interface language in your account settings.
Streamed in real time
When you generate a summary or send a chat message, the answer appears progressively as it is written, so you see progress immediately instead of staring at a frozen spinner. If you close the panel or navigate away mid-generation, the underlying work is cancelled cleanly. A completed summary is saved to the session automatically, even if you close the panel before it finishes, so you don't have to remember to save it.
Metered by quotas, not by surprise
The metered AI tools each draw from a weekly allowance tied to your plan. There are three separate quotas (summaries, chat messages, and autocorrections), and they reset every Monday (00:00 UTC). Automatic session titles are not metered: they run when a recording ends and are free on every plan. All AI features also share a short safety cool-down so that firing many requests in a few seconds asks you to wait a moment before continuing. A closer look at each tool
Summaries
Open the AI panel, pick the Summary tab, and click Generate. The summary streams in and arrives as a structured briefing: a short TLDR at the top, then key takeaways, decisions, action items, topics with their key points, open questions, and a participant list. You can view it four ways, Overview (a dashboard plus the TLDR), Tasks, Topics, or Markdown, and copy the Markdown to paste anywhere. On plans with enhanced AI included, summaries are produced by a stronger model automatically, with no setting to toggle.
AI Chat
The Chat tab lets you ask direct questions about a session, such as "what did we decide about pricing?", "who owns the launch?", or "summarize the risks", and get answers grounded only in that transcript. Suggested starter prompts appear when the chat is empty. Your conversation is saved per session and reloaded when you return, and each person who opens a shared session gets their own private chat history.
AutoCorrect+
When speech-to-text mishears a name or a technical term, AutoCorrect+ lets you flag it. Mark a word or phrase with one of six categories (wrong word, name or term, grammar, punctuation, filler to remove, or a note), then resolve each mark by typing the fix yourself, asking AI for a suggestion, or dismissing it. Corrections are applied at the word level, so playback timing and karaoke highlighting stay perfectly aligned. Turn on "also fix others" and Kalima checks every other occurrence with AI before replacing only the ones that are genuinely the same mistake.
Automatic titles
When a recording ends, Kalima reads your transcript and sets a short, descriptive session name (up to eight words) so your sessions get meaningful titles instead of generic timestamps. It happens on its own, it is free on every plan, and it never overwrites a name you gave a session yourself.
Read Aloud
In the transcript, choose to read any segment aloud, either the original line or its translation when one exists. You can adjust the playback speed from 0.5x to 2.0x and stop at any time. Read-aloud first uses your browser's built-in voices for instant playback and falls back to natural neural voices on Kalima's servers for languages and browsers the built-in option can't handle.
Standard vs. enhanced AI
All plans include the full set of AI tools. The difference between plans is the size of your weekly quotas and the quality of your summaries.

Enhanced summary quality is tied to your plan, applied automatically, and there is no separate control to turn it on. For the exact quotas on each plan, see AI Usage & Limits and Plans & Pricing.
Higher plans also unlock enhanced translation quality and larger upload limits alongside better AI. If your team relies on AI summaries for high-stakes meetings, an enhanced-AI plan makes a noticeable difference with no extra setup.
